In the field of European research and innovation, communication has become a key component in ensuring the real impact of projects. Programs such as Horizon Europe, PRIMA, and LIFE allocate significant resources to scientific and technological development, but it is increasingly evident that without effective communication, many of these advances fail to translate into tangible improvements for society.
The European Commission has made it clear: R&D results must reach people, inspire change, inform decisions, and help address the major challenges of our time. This is particularly relevant in the fight against climate change, where scientific knowledge exists, but its social adoption remains uneven and is often hindered by misinformation.
The same applies to water management: despite significant progress in efficiency, reuse, circular economy, and treatment technologies, the gap between technical knowledge and its social implementation remains a barrier. Innovative solutions need to be understood, accepted, and adopted by those who will use them—citizens, farmers, policymakers, and businesses. Clear, engaging, and participatory communication is essential for water-related knowledge to generate real impact.
In today’s digital public sphere, public information and communication processes are increasingly exposed to narratives that directly challenge scientific consensus on climate change or water scarcity. These misinformation narratives are not just simple errors or misunderstandings; they are intentional constructs designed to contest the dominant discourse, appealing to emotions, identities, and shared values that—often—prove more effective than objective data in shaping public opinion.
At BIOAZUL, we believe that science should not be confined to producing knowledge; it must also rethink how it engages with society. Misinformation is not fought with more data or greater technical precision alone—it is fought with trust, dialogue, and meaningful narratives.
At BIOAZUL, we see science communication as an exercise in creativity, empathy, and human connection. This is why we emphasize the art of storytelling: stories that put a face to problems and solutions, that explain how climate change, water scarcity, or pollution affect real people—and how research improves their lives.
Drawing inspiration from other forms of expression—cinema, literature, visual arts, or theater—we explore new ways to narrate scientific knowledge, making it more accessible, relatable, and transformative. Science does not only generate data; it also generates hope, conflicts, learning, and possibilities—and all of this deserves to be told with the care and sensitivity found in great stories.
In the end, it is about putting a human face on science. Showcasing the researchers, those affected by environmental challenges, and those benefiting from the solutions. Creating narratives that inform not just with reason, but also touch the heart.
We have a strong track record in European innovation projects (Horizon Europe, PRIMA, LIFE, among others), where our expertise in areas such as water management, circular economy, urban sustainability, and agri-food has been enriched by cross-cutting approaches in inclusive communication, citizen science, and active stakeholder engagement.
Our multidisciplinary team—scientists, communicators, sustainability and social innovation specialists—allows us to approach environmental communication not merely as a dissemination task but as a true strategic process of cultural transformation, citizen empowerment, and trust-building.
At BIOAZUL, we are ready to lead or collaborate on Work Packages and actions focused on:
Transformative communication strategies.
Narratives for ecological transition.
Climate and media literacy for different audiences.
Platforms and strategies for co-creation and social innovation.
Campaign design to combat misinformation.
In projects such as SUWANU EUROPE, P2GREEN, NOVAFERT, BONEX, and BOOST-IN, we have demonstrated our ability to:
Translate technical knowledge into clear, engaging, and culturally relevant messages.
Design communication strategies tailored to diverse audiences, from policymakers to rural communities.
Facilitate co-creation processes for solutions, narratives, and messages together with citizens, youth, farmers, businesses, and public administrations.
Combat misinformation through narrative, visual, and participatory approaches that connect with people’s values and emotions.
BIOAZUL does not just communicate science; we transform it into a shared story, a collective action, and an opportunity to build a fairer and more sustainable future.
