GREENCITIES 2020

On September 30 and October 1, we attended the 11th edition of Greencities, the Urban Intelligence and Sustainability Forum in FYCMA (Malaga), where we presented our project Connecting Nature and the application of Nature-Based Solutions in cities

This latest edition, marked by the current situation we are experiencing due to the coronavirus crisis, was broadcast via streaming and ended up with very positive figures:

• 1560 professional assistants.
• 280 entities represented.
• 220 experts.
• 53 municipalities and 20 mayors.
• 28 scientific communications.
• 20 countries represented.

Greencities offered a wide program of activities divided into different areas such as the exhibition area for companies and institutions with a stand or meeting point where attendees could learn about the products and solutions offered.

In our case, Bioazul had a stand dedicated to the Connecting Nature project, funded by the European Commission and with the main target of boosting the implementation of Nature-Based Solutions in Europe. Several local companies and institutions visited our stand in order to learn how to design, implement and manage nature-based solutions in our cities. As part of the virtual side of the event, we made appointments with entities outside Spain to get to know each other and establish future collaborations. We had the chance to meet with entities such as the Ministry of Education and Innovation of Quebec (Canada) and State Unitary Enterprise Smart City of Dushanbe (Tajikistan).

Another area of this congress was the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) spot where the 3^rd Circular Economy Forum took place. Here, the projects and initiatives promoting and leading to a new economic and social model were addressed. Within the round table on the requirements to achieve circularity, our CEO Antonia Lorenzo presented the Connecting Nature project and the activities being carried out to apply nature-based solutions in the city of Malaga.

A great number of visitors also attended the Green Point, a space dedicated to the presentation, by institutions and companies, of political and technological advances for the development of Smart Territories. A presentation and analysis of the 2030 agenda, within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals, was also provided to the audience.

Finally, the S-Moving Forum was organised as a reference area for companies, professionals, entities and public administrations in the sectors of Intelligent, Autonomous and Connected Vehicles.
